Texas Instruments had the necessity of defining and implementing a process that ensured them that their customers received the proper release, with the correct documentation and image. For this, Package Validation was created to find issues before their customers do. The process was defined as follows:

- Integration team integrates all software codes from the Development Unit; and builds a software image that goes to customer.
- Integration team puts together all documents that goes with software image to customer.
- Integration team puts together the built software image and all necessary documents into a package and releases the package to Product Test Team: Dextra.
- Package Validation (Product Test Team: Dextra)
- Product Test Team opens the package and verifies that all necessary documents that go to the customer with software are there and intact.
- Product Test Team follows the instructions in the document and rebuilds the software image to make sure the customer will be able follow the same instructions in the document and rebuild the software image.
- Product Test Team generates a rollup Product Test Report (PTR) that has all test results from Development Unit and Product Test Team.
- Product Test Team drops the Product Test Report (PTR) in the package and releases the package to the customer.
